Underbrushing

Clearing the brush, vines and small growth off a lot while the trees worth keeping stay standing.

A lot in the East Texas woods can go from open to impassable in a few seasons. Yaupon, briars and vines fill in under the pines and hardwoods until you cannot see the ground, let alone walk it.

Underbrushing clears that undergrowth and keeps the trees that are worth keeping. The property opens back up, you can see what you are working with, and it still looks like a wooded lot rather than a cleared one.

It is also often the first step before a new slab, driveway or building. The ground has to be visible to plan a pour — and since we pour the concrete as well, the clearing and the slab can be quoted as one job.

FAQ

Underbrushing questions

What happens to the brush you clear?

We haul it all off. The lot is left open and clean, not covered in piles of cut brush.

What is underbrushing?

Clearing out the undergrowth under the trees — yaupon, briars, vines and saplings — while leaving the larger trees standing. The property opens up without being clear-cut.

Why clear the brush before building or pouring concrete?

Because you need to see the ground to plan where a slab, driveway or building pad goes, and the crew needs room to work. An overgrown lot hides the slope and the low spots that decide where water will run.

Can you clear the lot and pour the slab too?

Yes. Clearing and concrete are both work we do, so they can be looked at and quoted together instead of coordinating two contractors.
