A metal building or barndominium slab has to do two jobs at once: carry the building and stay flat under it. On acreage in East Texas that means the base matters as much as the concrete.
We build a compacted, stabilized base sized to the footprint, set rebar on chairs at mid-slab depth so it sits where it actually does something, and cut the control joints on schedule so the slab cracks where we tell it to instead of wherever it wants.

Built for East Texas clay
Concrete does not crack because it is weak. It cracks because the ground under it moves — and East Texas clay swells when it takes on water and shrinks when it dries out, every single season. You cannot stop that. What you can do is build for it.

The slab is only as steady as what it sits on. We compact and stabilize the base so the ground under your concrete behaves predictably instead of moving with the seasons.

Rebar on chairs at mid-slab
Rebar lying on the ground does almost nothing. Set on chairs at mid-slab depth, it sits where the tension actually is and holds the slab together when the ground shifts.

3,000-4,000 PSI MIX
A stronger mix costs more per yard and is worth it here. It resists the stress that seasonal ground movement puts on a slab in this part of Texas.

Control joints cut on schedule
Concrete will crack. Joints cut at the right time — not whenever someone gets back to it — decide that it cracks along a straight line you chose rather than across the middle of your slab.

Do you pour to my building supplier's drawings?
Yes. Bring the anchor bolt pattern and slab dimensions from your metal building supplier and we set the bolts to match. Getting this right before the pour is the whole job — a slab that misses the bolt pattern cannot be fixed afterward.
How thick should a metal building slab be?
It depends on the span of the building and what you will park or store on it. A slab holding a tractor and a loaded trailer is not the same slab as one holding a workshop bench. We measure on site and tell you what the footprint needs.
